学习象征类5

504 Gateway Time-out

“I’ll give you one minute to get your stuff ready,” said Ms. Dibble, as her students momentarily disappeared to collect their writing journals and as many colored pencils or magic markers they could find. “The more colors the better,” she added.

“Are you ready for the next task?” asked Ms. Dibble when the allotted time elapsed. With anticipation, the students looked up from their notebooks. “I want you to write three sentences for any object that are true about how Jack feels,” she said.

Then, once again, these scholars returned to their journals, heads down in concentration, and worked on quickly drafting their sentences. A few minutes later, Ms. Dibble called them back. “For this next part,” she explained, “we are going to look at a series of pictures.”

More images followed in rapid succession, prompting the girls to assign meaningful words to each one. For example, a picture of a heart elicited responses including “love,” “kindness” and “caring.” A question mark sparked the words “uncertainty,” “mystery” and “unopened answer.”

“我认为,狗象征着爱和忠诚度,”一个学生说。 “蓝色的车象征着不好的回忆,”第二个说。 “和愤怒和悲伤,”第三个。

For the remaining moments, the students reviewed their drawings and jotted down notes for the symbolism project, which would be completed during independent work time. “Take a picture and email it to me,” reminded Ms. Dibble as this uplifting Class 5 Humanities lesson wrapped up.
